About 30 minutes ago, I held Potluck Desserts: Joyful Recipes to Share with Pride in my hands for the very first time. My book. My first cookbook. Something I’ve been chasing for nearly ten years.
There were plenty of "nos" along the way. Don’t talk about your personal life. Nobody wants to hear from a queer dad. And my favorite: Can you just talk about pies?
But it only took one person to say yes. One person to see my potential, to see me for who I am. And that person,
, jumped at the chance to pitch my idea to Countryman Press. Their enthusiasm, their belief in my story—my actual story—made all the difference. The entire process was nothing but support.Writing this book was hard. Emotional. I’ll talk more about that soon, but right now, I’m just too damn excited to keep this to myself.
I wrote a queer cookbook. A dessert book built around queer potlucks, about finding ourselves and finding chosen family.
