Start Here: Why Taste This? Why Now?
A newsletter for food, queer joy, and the people who make it all matter.
Welcome to Taste This!
I've been thinking a lot about what it means to build something that feels like home. Not just a place, but a feeling—a space where you can show up exactly as you are, pull up a chair, and share something good. That's what this newsletter is to me: a kitchen from afar, a table that's always set, a place where we can cook, laugh, and swap stories like old friends.
Food has always been my way of connecting—to myself, to my chosen family, and to the history and future of the queer community. Every dish holds a story, whether it's a recipe passed down, tweaked, or entirely reimagined.
And I want to share those with you.
So, why now?
Why Taste This? Because, right now, the queer community and its allies need more safe spaces. Creating safer spaces to come together, celebrate, and support one another is more crucial than ever. Social media feels unpredictable—harder to navigate, harder to trust—so I'm returning to something more direct and personal. A space where we build something lasting together, outside the algorithm's reach.
This newsletter is a way for me to share queer food, stories, and pieces of life with you—directly. No gatekeeper. No noise. Just us.
Here's what you can expect:
Approachable recipes, kitchen tips, stories about food and queer culture, and a little bit of the everyday joy that comes with creating something delicious. Sometimes, you'll hear from my chosen family, who will bring their own voices and flavors to the mix. And because a queer kitchen isn't just about food, you can also expect music, lifestyle tidbits, and whatever else makes the space feel full.
Whether you're here as part of the community or just pulling up a chair out of curiosity, you're welcome.
There's a seat for you at this table.
